PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Some people who aren’t feeling so jolly right about now are all those last-minute shoppers.
About 20 percent of people still had shopping to do today.
For procrastinators, it could mean two things – bigger bargains, but also fewer choices.
The countdown is on as only a few hours remain before it’s Christmas Day and some folks are still shopping and not just for one thing. Some were shopping for everything.
The parking lot at the Mall at Robinson wasn’t as crowded as Black Friday or Super Saturday and there was moving around room inside the mall. However, those shopping were on a mission.
So, why did they wait until the last hours and minutes to find that special Christmas gift?
“Anyone can come out and shop in October and November and early December, but it takes a real man to get out here on Christmas Eve when that clock is ticking,” Buddy Reynolds said.
Danielle Williams said three is no shame to her game because she knows exactly who and what she is.
“I’m so like a last-minute person. I will put off everything in the world if I could and then go last-minute and shop. I’m getting my mom’s stuff, my sister,” Williams said.
When you wait until hours before the biggest gift giving day of the year, Shema Krimsky of the Mall at Robinson says you may not always find what you are looking for, but you sure can find a bargain if you do.
“You are definitely going to get some deals. You may have some things that are picked over, but the deals are unbelievable. Most stores are starting off at 50 percent off, but you are going to see them go all the way up to 75 percent off,” she said.
Bargains may be good, but shoppers like Michael Glaser said they can’t change a bad habit.
“Well, procrastinators do what procrastinators do, so here I am at the mall the day before Christmas,” Glaser said.
